Conference Working Party 2019 expressions of interest

Planning is now underway for next year’s 50th Anniversary ARLIS UK & Ireland Conference, which is to be held at the University of Glasgow from Monday 15th to Wednesday 17th July 2019.

We are now seeking enthusiastic ARLIS individuals to join our colleagues at Glasgow and be part of the conference planning team. There are a variety of roles and responsibilities, including helping to organise and select the programme, working with sponsorship, advertising, website and social media and assisting speakers and delegates during the event. This is your chance to influence and own the next ARLIS conference, which as its 50th anniversary event, we hope will be one to remember!

While some specific roles will be assigned, all members of the Conference Working Party will contribute to the overall development of the conference. You’ll need to be available to attend most planning meetings (approximately once every two months) between now and July and also be able to commit to some additional time. We recognise that this voluntary work must be fitted around everyone’s increasingly onerous work commitments, so will endeavour to make this as minimal as possible. At this stage we are planning on holding most of our meetings in Glasgow, so we are particularly keen to receive expressions of interest from colleagues in Scotland (although all expressions of interest will be duly considered). It may be possible, on some occasions, to participate in meetings via online platforms if you are unable to attend in person.

Please send a brief statement (not more than 200 words) of why and how you want to be involved as well as a short bio or current CV to l.appleton@gold.ac.ukWe’re particularly keen to have involvement from individuals at a variety of career stages, including current students and early career workers.

The deadline for letting us know you’d like to get involved is Monday 22nd October.
