2017 Samuel H. Kress Foundation Awards for International travel winner.

We are happy to announce that UK art librarian Alex Duncan, one of the co-editors of ARLISmatters, has been selected as one of the recipients of this year’s Samuel H. Kress Foundation Awards for International Travel.

Alex Duncan, Academic Support Librarian, London College of Fashion (University of the Arts London)

These particular awards, managed and awarded by ARLIS/NA, provide an opportunity for exceptional art information professionals from Europe to receive awards of $1,000-$2,500 to attend the ARLIS/NA conference (held this year in New Orleans, 5-9 February). They are particularly designed for proposals and initiatives with an international scope and therefore serve as an excellent opportunity to build links between art librarians internationally.

Alex hopes to build stronger links between ARLIS/UK and ARLIS/NA and eventually to collaborate with a US fashion librarian on devising a new framework for teaching information literacy to fashion students. She will be documenting the experience with a series of posts on ARLISmatters so for those of you interested in information literacy and the New Orleans bar scene please watch this space.
