Alpha to Odyssey: a short history of a St Albans’ cinema, by Penny Dade. (ARLIS member and retired academic arts librarian) tells the story of this cinema which began life as the Alpha Picture Palace in 1908 and through many changes (including a major fire) was reborn in 1931, closed in 1995 and then brought back to life as an art deco single cinema and re-opened in 2014.
